Ninety-Third Street S.T.E.A.M. Academy School Mission

The mission of Ninety-Third Street Elementary School is to educate students to be productively involved in a highly technical society by creating a neighborhood school where students are to actively engage in inquiry, discovery, critical analysis and with discussion of the subject matter learn through active participation in an enriched, organized curriculum that focuses on science, mathematics, art, and the use of technology.

Ninety-Third Street STEAM ACADEMY School was a Transformational Model Schools Program

formerly known as: the "Ten Schools Program"  

The mission of the Transformational Schools Program was to provide an Innovative/instructional program in an organizational design that is language intensive and directed at reversing the pattern of poor academic achievement of African American and other students in predominately Hispanic, Black, Asian and Other Non-Anglo (PHBAO) schools.

The Transformational Schools Program supported 13 elementary schools and two middle schools.  In 2008-09 CST data, eleven schools met their Average Progress Index  Growth Target (API), and eleven of the fifteen schools surpassed an API score of 700 regardless of the incredible living conditions of our students. The Transformational Schools Program continued to sustain and/or increase the academic growth at each school.

The Transformational Schools Program continued to  develop as the exemplar of excellence for comparable schools during those years and surpassed many.  By building at each school a community of informed and empowered parents, teachers, staff, and community partners who work collaboratively to support high-quality  teaching and learning it worked. The Transformation Schools was cutting edge of professional development.  Transformational School's principals and staff were trained during the summer by Pearson Learning Teams (LT) on the 7 step protocols.  It creating learning communities in which teachers, and those who support them, use data in a reflective cycle of continuous improvement to develop their skills in delivering high-quality  and personalized instruction that ensures learning for all students. In collaboration with Local District Superintendents it implemented a school reform  model that evaluates and identifies the best school model for each neighborhood.  From the school wide evaluation it embraced successful schools, provide support to our underperforming schools, to meet the needs of our students.  Ten Schools supported our neediest underachieving schools with a proven school reform model, and transform these underachieving schools into models of excellence. Under the direction of the Local District Superintendent and the Student Integration Services the Transformational Schools it continued to be model of excellence for schools in many communities.
